RE
Unit: People of God What is it like to follow God?
The Old Testament tells the story of a particular group of people, the children of Israel, known as the people of God – and their relationship with God. The People of God try to live in the way God wants, following his commands and worshipping him. They believe he promises to stay with them and Bible stories show how God keeps his promises.
Author Event
On 20th November Class 1 and 2 were able to join a virtual author event with Andy Stanton. Andy is the author of the brilliant and bizarre Mr Gum series and the equally brilliant picture book, Danny McGee Drinks the Sea. There was LOTS of laughter and silliness, particularly when Andy told the children he used to be a potato!
Before we joined the event, Class 2 thought about the questions they wanted to ask Andy. Luckily, he answered all of them. Below are just a couple.
Q. What is your favourite book?
Q. How long have you been writing books for?
Andy. ‘When I was younger, I loved The Eighteenth Emergency by Betsy Byars because it’s funny and sad. Stories can be about anything.
I’ve written for nearly 20 years and I’ve written about 20 books! You just need 1 idea to write and you can make up the rules. The first book I wrote was You're a Bad Man, Mr Gum!’
HANDWRITING
The children have sheets, like the one below, around the classroom. This way they can refer back to them when practising their writing or doing an activity that requires hand-written answers.

Understanding and Engaging with Climate Change
COP 30
On Tuesday 11th November, Year 3 and Class 3 took part in a COP30 Assembly Live from Brazil, deep in the Amazon. The Amazon is one of the most important places on Earth for clean air, wildlife and forests!
COP30 stands for the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference.
It’s a big global meeting where leaders from almost every country come together to:
Talk about how to look after our planet
Share ideas to reduce pollution and climate change
Agree on actions to protect people, animals and nature.

Robert Swan in Antarctica
Class 2 were lucky enough to take part in a live webinar with Robert Swan in Antarctica. Robert Swan is the first person in history to walk both the North and South Poles, and is well-known for his Antarctica advocacy and adventures.
Robert Swan shared his stories from the ice and also spoke to the class about the importance of protecting our planet’s frozen continent.
