The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations at Broad Town School
A great day was had by the staff and children when we celebrated the Queen's 90th Birthday.
The children came to school dress as a royal or in red, white or blue. The morning started with each class being involved in an orienteering activity linked to facts about the queen. During singing assembly, the children sang the national anthem at a range of selected songs linked to the queen. After playtime, we had a whole school Kahoot quiz on the ipads to further develop the children's knowledge about the Queen. The children carried out a range of craft activities which included making union jack kites and designing a new handbag for the queen.
In the afternoon, we had a whole school party with special cakes made by Mrs Boniface's family. Some of the children then had an opportunity to fly their kites and play party games.
Two of our parents also came in and planted red, white and blue flowers with our children. In June, we will be planting more flowers and also cleaning up the school grounds and the area surrounding the school. In addition to this, we will be making a royal themed scarecrow to link in with Broad Town Village celebrations.
