British Science Week
In March we celebrated British Science Week at School . The children were given opportunities in class to experience lots of 'hands on' Science experiments and were lucky enough to be able to enjoy a Science Workshop . The children learned about different types of energy. They particulalrly enjoyed experimenting with static energy and there were lots of 'hair raising' moments! The 'vandagraph' or electro static generator resulted in pink hair standing on end! The visiting scientists demonstrated how to use a plasma ball to light a fluorescent tube and children were even 'floating on air' on the self propelling hovercraft . Another highlight was the 'bicycle blending' machine , by which the children were able to create their own fruit smoothie from pedal power alone .
