Wrap Around Care
By September 2026, the DfE require all working parents/carers of primary school aged children to be able to access wraparound childcare 8am-6pm, term time only. This could be on the school site or made available elsewhere, likewise, it could be run by the school or delivered by another provider. The aim is to help parents access more childcare and work the hours they want to. This is different from out-of-school activities, or school clubs, which are less frequent and can be a one-off activity. Providers will set the fees, and those parent/carers eligible for Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare will be able to use this support to help pay for wraparound childcare.
As a school, we have tried on several occasions to set up wrap around care put our small numbers have not made this financially viable. Then arrangements were being made for preschool staff to provide this service but this changed when preschool closed.
We signpost parents to Sunshine Bears childminding service which is Ofsted registered. Emma Bell and Chloe Dobson are well respected parents in our school community and we always hear positive feedback about their services.
