ROCK Stars of History

We joined the STEM experts who told us about the work they do for the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

We learnt about the formation of fossils and the early discoverers who pioneered the way we use fossils to understand the natural world and its history.

At the end our class also got a shout out as the panel answered our question LIVE!

Activity Passport

Wednesday 7th February was Activity Passport Day. This is where we worked on achieving activities in our Activity Passports. Our class made musical instruments, learnt a French song, wrote our name in hieroglyphics and also learnt a card game with a school governor.

Prehistoric Britain Assembly

The school all stepped back in time with  Class 2 as they shared what they had learnt about prehistoric Britain. It was lovely that so many parents and carers from Class 2 were also able to attend before the school watched it.

Mrs McEvoy was extremely proud as all the children worked so hard to rehearse and practise their performance.

Power of 10

Phil Smith from Royal Wootton Bassett Academy  and his annual group of 10 teenagers (actually 12 this time!) helped organise activities for the class to improve their ABC - Agility, Balance and  Coordination.

Bible week

This term each class at Broad Town choose a bible story to really study and think about how the teaching is relevant to our lives today. Class 2 decided to look at the story of Noah’s Ark.

We thought about the wonderful animals that live with us on earth and how to help protect them from harm. We thought about the rainbow as God’s promise to never flood the world again.

Lest We Forget

IMG_5082

As part of learning about Remembrance Day, our class walked around the village to see the poppy wreaths. The wreaths stood in front of the homes where the people who died in the past wars once lived.

Children In Need

Thank you for all your support in raising money for Children in Need.

Tower of London

Class 2 and 3 got to explore London’s iconic castle. We got close to the Crown Jewels, we saw the legendary Yeoman Warders and ravens and listened to stories about its famous prisoners.

The Tower of London was once Britain's most notorious prison, fortress, and royal residence. But now, the Tower of London is a unique place for students to become fascinated by British history and that’s definitely what happened when Class 2 and 3 visited in February. The children wondered at the awe-inspiring crown jewels, and delved into the depths of this medieval fortress. They also took part in a fascinating workshop on the history of crime and punishment in the Tower. They heard fascinating stories about some of the people who were locked within the fortress walls and also got to see the prison accommodation which everyone agreed was quite pleasant!
