KS2 Curriculum

The Key Stage 2 curriculum includes the same subject areas as Key Stage 1: Religious Education,   English, Mathematics, Science, Art & Design, Computing, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education, and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education.)

In English, the aim is to promote high standards of literacy with both the spoken and written word.  They are expected to develop their reading fluency, with a clear understanding of meanings and develop a habit of reading for pleasure as well as for information.  They also need to write clearly, with accurate spelling and grammar, and adapt their style to suit a range of purposes.  In addition, they are expected to develop their discussion-skills to clearly explain their ideas or understanding.

In Mathematics, the children are working to become fluent in mental maths, and the standard written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  A secure understanding of place value, fractions, properties of shape and statistics is also taught.  Additionally, pupils need to be able to combine their mathematical skills to solve problems, and to reason mathematically- looking for patterns and generalisations, helped by the use of mathematical language.

Our Exciting Curiculum

Staff have received training for the new curriculm. Our Curriculum Maps for KS1 and KS2 have been updated to ensure that topics selected match the requirements of the New Curriculum and the needs of our children.
